Reader Responds to Letter

Dear Editor,

I’d like to urge readers to go back and read my letter (published in the Jennings Daily News Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014). I did not say everyone who did not vote for Barack Obama or criticizes him is a racist. I said some so-called Christians were racist.

The responses I got were what I expected. I didn’t expect anyone to say, “Yes, I’m a racist and hate Barack Obama, and other African Americans.” I realize some people have opposing political views and that’s why they are critical but some criticism and dislike (hatred) goes beyond political differences. As I said before, racism still exists. I’ve witnessed it by words and actions. As I’ve said before, you can deny it and try to disguise it but you can’t hide it. It will be revealed by your words and actions.

So to the true Christians, I apologize if you were offended by misunderstanding. You weren’t included. You don’t have to write and defend yourselves.

Don’t worry about the future. Worry is irreligious. Worry is lack of faith or trust in God. True Christians do not worry that President Obama’s actions will destroy our future.
