Killer freed from prison early due to molestation

A convicted murderer was released from his Texas prison last week after the court learned that he was sexually assaulted by his uncle, Hathaway native Elmer Doucet.

Fifty-five-year-old Bernie Tiede of Carthage, Texas, was set free from his life sentence last Tuesday, more than 17 years after he was convicted of shooting his longtime companion, 81-year-old Marjorie Nugent, and tucking her body under potpies in a deep freezer.
