A Mass of Christian burial for Dewey Clement, 87, of Jennings, was held on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Charles McMillin officiating.

The Clement family requested visitation to be held on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014. beginning at 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary 6 p.m. Visitation resumed on Monday at 9 a.m. until his funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Burial as in Tee Mamou Cemetery.

Dewey passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Jennings American Legion Hospital.

He was born in Evangeline on June 1, 1927, to the late Eulice Clement and the late May Gatte Clement.  Dewey worked for Walker’s Electric Service for 40 years. He liked listening to French music and speaking French when he could. He was very proud of his culture. He loved to crawfish and to bush hog. Most of all Dewey loved spending time with his family on Sunday. He loved to pick up his great-grandchildren every day.

Dewey is survived by his daughter, Wanda Cormier, of Jennings; his daughter-in-law, Theresa Clement; his sister-in-law, Rita Clement; six grandchildren, Roy Cormier, Nicole C. (Steven) Patrick, Marie C. (Robin) Fruge, Natalie (Brennon) Hardee, Joel (Dixie) Clement and Jason (Ashley) Clement; nine great-grandchildren, John Dewey Cormier, Devin Patrick, Logan Patrick, Gregory Hardee III, Remi Fruge, Grace Anne Patrick, Reggie Mae Fruge, Collin Clement and Carter Clement.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Eulice and May Clement; his wife, Juanita Clement; a son, Timmy Clement; a brother, John R. Clement; and a sister, Euna Clement.

Carrying Dewey to his eternal resting place were John Dewey Cormier, Steven Patrick, Robin Fruge, Brennon Hardee, Joel Clement and Jason Clement.

Honorary pallbearers were Gregory Hardee, Logan Patrick, Devin Patrick and Roy Cormier.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and doctors in ICU in Tower 3 at Jennings American Legion Hospital.
