Dear Editor,

A study of prophecy in Matthew 24 offers some of the signs: Forsaking the Lord (verse 5); fighting, wars and rumors of wars (verse 6); famines and earthquakes (verse 7); fear (verse 9); faintheartedness (verse 10); false prophets (verse 11); faithlessness (verse 12).

“14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (whose breadth, let him understand).” Matthew 24-14-15 (KJV)

“21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect’s sake, those days shall be shortened.” Matthew 24:21-22 (KJV)

The message of the Bible is being fulfilled daily – just watch the news. There is one word that is all important in the Bible, and everything hinges around this word: prophecy. All the Old Testament prophets plus the books of Matthew and Revelation tell the story of the beginning and the end. The prophecy of Christ’s Second Coming becomes clearer and clearer. Read your Bible (or the newspaper) and look for the signs being fulfilled now.

Today Jerusalem is almost surrounded by its enemies. “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.” Luke 21:20 (KJV) Jerusalem is the main sign that we should keep our eyes on. What happens to it tells the story. Keep your eyes on Jesus and Jerusalem.
