Doucet Dominates: Lake Arthur claims 10-0 win over Lacassine at home

LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Tigers used a dominant pitching performance from Tristan Doucet to claim a 10-0 win over the Lacassine Cardinals Tuesday night in non-district play. Doucet fired 5 innings of 1-hit baseball, while striking out 10 Cardinal hitters in that span. Doucet allowed a lead off single to Lacassine shortstop Mason Hebert to open the game, then quickly retired 17 of the next 19 he faced.

“I thought Tristan threw the ball really well today and pounded the strike zone with his fastball and breaking ball as well,” said Tigers Head Coach Brett Lilley. “He gave us a good lift on the mound and then I thought we had a few guys who stepped up and carried the load at the plate and got some big hits.”

One of those guys was Addison Landry, who finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI’s in the contest. Doucet also had a brilliant day at the plate for Lake Arthur by pounding out 3 hits in 4 trips from his lead off spot in the Tiger order. Doucet drove in a pair of runs, while Jarron Whitman ended his day 2-for-4 with 3 RBI’s to help the Lake Arthur cause.

It was the second time in 5 days that the two clubs played each other, the first coming in a 21-1 Tiger win in the Lake Arthur Tournament. Cardinals coach Kevin Bruchhaus explained that despite the loss, improvement was what he was looking for most in the rematch with the 2A Tigers.
