This week all Louisiana residents ages 18 and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and the Pfizer vaccine is specifically available to anyone 16 years and older.

Lady Hounds pick up two wins in tournament

WELSH - The Welsh Lady Greyhounds took two-of-three games in their Welsh High School Softball Tournament over the weekend by blasting Vinton 17-1, thumping East Beauregard 14-8, but dropped a heart breaker to Crowley by a count of 10-9.

WELSH -The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers’ (LA) softball team continued to roll over the weekend as they grabbed a 3-game sweep at the Welsh High School Tournament at Sportsman’s Park The No. 9-ranked Lady Tigers upped their sparkling overall mark to 13-3 overall with a 10-0 win over East Beauregard, a 14-4 victory over Vinton and 10-4 win over Pickering. The Lady Tigers have a busy week scheduled, as they welcomed in Welsh Monday for a district dash and travel to 6-2A power Notre Dame on Wednesday. LA will turn around and hit the road Thursday to do battle with St. Edmund in Eunice and then welcome in Jennings to Dicky Chapman Complex in Lake Arthur on Saturday.

Lady Dogs top Crowley, drop game to Pickering

The Jennings Lady Bulldogs played a pair of games at the Welsh Tournament over the weekend and picked up a win 22-6 win over Crowley and lost a 4-2 contest to Pickering. Jennings was back in action on Monday when they hosted Gueydan in a non-district tilt, and will also welcome in district foe Iowa to town today for a league match-up. First-pitch for both games is set for 5 p.m. from the Lady Bulldog Softball Complex.
