No. 4 LCA escapes Welsh with 4-3 win

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds gave district rival and perennial power Lafayette Christian Academy (LCA) all they could handle here at Sportsman’s Park in a 6-2A clash. The Hounds trailed the Knights 4-0 after three complete, but rallied for 3 runs over the next three frames to put themselves in a good spot to win the contest. However, in the end the Hounds couldn’t scratch a run across in the seventh to send it to extras, and fell by a count of 4-3.

Lady Dogs rally to beat St. Louis 12-11

LAKE CHARLES – Trailing 9-4 heading into the top of the fifth inning, things appeared pretty bleak for the Jennings Lady Bulldogs in their district 4-3A match-up with the St. Louis Lady Saints. However, that’s where things got interesting as the Lady Dogs put up a 6-spot of their own to take a 10-9 lead. The two teams would each score two runs over the next two innings, but the Jennings defense held the Lady Saints in the bottom of the eighth to preserve a 12-11 district 4-3A win. Jennings improves to 9-8 overall, but are 2-0 in league play so far.

ABOB auditions to be held in April

Auditions are being held in April for all JHS choir and A Block Off Broadway (ABOB) musical alumni for a production in June.

Boating ‘Lagniappe Day’ coming to Lacassine

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will be hosting the 10th annual “Boating Education Lagniappe Day” on April 24 at eight different locations across the state.

Four sought in car theft, vehicle burglaries

Jennings police are currently seeking the whereabouts of four unnamed suspects in a case involving two stolen vehicles, a rash of vehicle burglaries and a stolen handgun.

Jeff Davis Parish Library receives Hurricane Mitigation grant

The Jennings headquarters branch of Jeff Davis Libraries received a grant this week for over $5,000 to cover the cost of hurricane damage prevention mitigation measures.
