LAKE ARTHUR - The community is invited to attend a celebration in honor of Juneteenth on Saturday, June 22.
Organizer Caroline Charles said the event will take place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Lake Arthur. The park is located at the corner of Sixth Street and G.C. Chaney Avenue.
Juneteenth commemorates the ending of slavery on June 19, 1865, in the United States and has been celebrated since the end of the Civil War.
Charles said the event is free and everyone is invited to take part in the family fun.
