It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Arlene Ruth Thevis Daboval announces her passing on Oct. 28, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Arlene at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at 11 a.m.

A gathering of family and friends will be held immediately following the service at LeCentre de Pere Daigle Center in Welsh.

Arlene was born March 4, 1945. She was an amazing woman who dedicated her life to homemaking and to her family. She was especially known for her cooking and baking skills. Her family was the joy of her life, and she took pride in being a farmer’s wife and was an important partner in her husband’s success. She was an avid Saints fan, loved to play cards and enjoyed watching her granddaughters play sports.

Arlene married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Rene. Together they raised two children, Kimberly and Shannon. Her six granddaughters know her affectionately as “GiGi” or Granny and loved her constant presence in their life.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 53 years, Rene; daughter Kimberly Juneau [Jacques] of Westlake; son Shannon [Jada Simar] of Thornwell; and granddaughters Renee’, Dominque, and Gabrielle Juneau and Paige, Brooke and Riley Daboval; her sisters Patricia Ann Marshburn (Tommy) of Humble, Texas, Margaret Benoit (Alvin) of Welsh and Dorothy Jane “Janie” LaPoint (Norman) of Lake Arthur;. And her in-laws Audrey Daboval, Al and Bernadine Daboval of Welsh and Dr. Jeanne Daboval of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellen and Martin Thevis; parents-in-law, Bea and Teppy Daboval; and brother-in-law, Dr. Pierre Daboval.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to remember Arlene with acts of kindness and love toward your family and friends.

The family would like to thank those who visited her and helped care for her during the final months of her life. She was honored by the love and support she received.
