KINDER - Brad Michael Crochet, 43, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, with Father Keith Pellerin officiating.

Visitation began at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder Friday from 5-9 p.m., with a vigil service at 6 p.m. and a rosary followed. Visitation continued Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Burial followed in Kinder McRill Cemetery.

He was a resident of Copperas Cove, Texas. Brad was a graduate of Kinder High School and an Army veteran. He was an educator, author and editor. Brad was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his mother, Mariah Granger of Kinder; father, Gerald Crochet of Jennings; brother, Justin Crochet of Jennings; companion, Chantrie Sargent of Copperas Cove; aunts, Joanie Granger of Kinder, Becky Headley of Jennings, Paula Moncla of Jennings and Connie Crochet Jennings; and a host extended family and cousins with whom he was very close.

While a student at Kinder High, he was very involved with the Catholic youth group, assisting Father Carlos Garcia at the rectory. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, remaining in that area.

Brad earned a degree from Tarleton State University with a degree in education and began teaching at Montague Village School at Fort Hood. He had a passion for writing and in recent years became a published author. Brad was a member of Central Texas Writers Society. He also became a book-publishing project manager. He was a unique, creative individual who had a gift of story-telling and a one-of-a-kind sense of humor who everyone loved to be around.

He was preceded in death by his cousin, Jeremy Hall; and his grandparents, Wildreau and Bennie Granger and Lester and Velma Crochet.
