Dale Ann Cannon entered her eternal resting place on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018.

A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetary in Lafayette today, Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at 2 p.m.

Dale was born in Welsh to Harold “Shot” Cannon, Sr. and Ida Benoit Cannon on July 7, 1943. She was a graduate of Jennings High School in 1961.

In 1960 she was honored to represent the town of Jennings as “Miss Jennings.” Ms. Cannon had a very diversified career throughout her lifetime. She was a cosmetologist, an executive secretary, a real estate agent and broker, editor of a Cajun cookbook and operated Trudy’s Treasures, a small unique boutique.

Dale was a devout Catholic who visited the Carmelite monastery frequently. She instilled her beliefs in her children and grandchildren. She also taught catechism through St. Pius Church. She also played the guitar as a member of the music ministry at Holy Cross Church.

Mrs. Cannon is survived by her daughter, Tracey Dupuis Amy and her husband Bill; grandson, Casey Karl Simon; granddaughter, Courtney Anne Amy; and great-grandchildren, Rylee Fontenot, Dylan Breaux and Brinley Simon.

She is also survived by her brother, Harold C. Cannon Jr. and his wife Ann, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Trudy Anne Dupuis; and sister, Carolyn Cannon Miller.
