Funeral services for Ellen Hall Wilks, 90, of the Pine Hill Community were held Saturday April 28, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, with Rev. Daniel Rigsby officiating.

Burial followed in Martin Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilks was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Rusk County to Lawrence Pete and Flora Kay Hall, and died Wednesday, April 26, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Wilks was a retired school teacher in Mermentau and for many years was the secretary of the Rusk County Rodeo Association. She was Treasurer of Pine Hill United Methodist Church, as well as being a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Her family was awarded the Texas Family Land Heritage ownership for 150 years as recognized by the Texas Department of Agriculture. There were 9 recognitions given and her family received 4 of them. Ellen was also a former Kilgore Rangerette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Ermine Hudspeth.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bobby Wilks of Henderson; a daughter, Edwina Wilks of Onalaska; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ron Yandle, Christopher Lindsey, Kelley McGill, Steve Wilks, Trey Lindamon and Austin Dent.

Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice, and visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. before the service.
