The family of Mrs. Emy Lois Harpin announces her passing from this life on Aug, 11, 2018, at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings today, Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at 2 p.m.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, from 3-9 p.m.. Visitation will resume today, Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, from 9 a.m. until the time of her funeral service.

Mrs. Emy will be laid to rest in Calvary Mausoleum in Jennings.

Mrs. Emy was born in Evangeline to Louis and Ada Goad Simar on June 21, 1932.

She was a homemaker and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with candy. Mrs. Emy loved photography, gardening and was an avid doll collector. In her spare time, she loved playing the slot machines at the casino. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Emy is survived by one daughter, Julie Harpin (Cody Shuff) of Longville; two grandchildren, Kolbie Smith (Joshua Suggs) of Melville and Kassadie Stewart of Lake Charles; two great-grandchildren, Madix and Mazzie Stewart; three brothers, Lynn (Judy) Simar of Evangeline, Milton (Diane) Simar of Iota, and Jay Simar of Evangeline; and three sisters, Evelyn “Pal” Johnson of Jennings,Lucille “Dee Dee” Stoute of Evangeline and Judy (Billy) Fusilier of Lake Charles.

Mrs. Emy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Simar and Ada Goad; her beloved husband, Tony Harpin; two brothers, Lloyd “Sonny” Simar and Charles “Buddy” Simar; and her sister, Ruth Simar.
