OBITUARIES

Funeral Services will be held for Helena Cormier, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings with Rev. Darrell Hieronymus officiating.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Saturday, July 21,  from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.  

Helena Cormier was born in Rayne, La. to Antoine Stelly and Clauda Meloncon Stelly on September 1, 1935.  She was a homemaker, who dedicated her life to the care of her family and enjoyed spending time with her them - especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helena loved watching TV, going out eat, going to gun shows and visiting with friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

 Helena is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Melvin Cormier of Jennings; her son, Robert W. “Bobby” Cormier (Carla) of Welsh, La; two grandchildren, Ben Cormier of Welsh, La., Brooke Benoit of Roanoke, La.; and her five great-grandchildren, Kaden, Meya, Benjamin, Wyatt, and Piper .

 Helena was preceded in death by her parents, Antoine and Clauda Stelly; her brothers, Preston Stelly, and Wilton Stelly; her sisters, Lula Thibodeaux, Lula Hollier, and Loretta Cormier.

 Carrying Helena to her final resting place in Oaklawn Cemetery will be Ben Cormier, Ernie Guillory, Doug Humberger, Kaden Cormier, Joshua Campbell, and Golden Benoit.
