It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Henry Joseph Lantz announces his passing from this life on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in the Carpenter House of Lafayette. He was 86 years old.

Visiting hours will be entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Musical selections will be provided by his grandson, Dylan Trahan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.

Henry will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery next to his second wife, Patsy Miller Lantz. He will be honored with full military rites.

Due to his courageous service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he served his country honorably. He fought on the front line for 21 months. Henry enlisted July 16, 1952, and was discharged with honors from Camp Chaffee Arkansas as Sgt. E-5 on April 16, 1954.

Mr. Lantz was a native of the Welsh-Pine Island area and a resident of Jennings. He was born to James Lantz and Amanda Courville Lantz on March 1, 1932. He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. He worked as a mechanic for 33 years for Bubba Oustalet Ford in Jennings and his pastime was reading. He also loved to dance.

On June 5, 1954, Henry was united in Holy Matrimony to Melanie M. Vidrine. To this union they had three children, Imelda, Phyllis and Marvin.

Henry is survived by his three children, Imelda Savoy of Lafayette and Marvin Lantz and Phyllis Trahan, both of Jennings; his special friend, Audry Landry; seven grandchildren, Tabitha (Jason) Stewart, Daphne (Willard ll) Landry, Timothy (Jen) Savoy, Courtney and Heather Savoy, Dylan Trahan and Chrystal Lantz; 11 greatgrandchildren, Sidney, Aiden and Riley Stewart, Crystal, Kelsey and Caleb Savoy, Gabby and Elicia Lopez, Richard Fuselier, Jr. Avery, Parker and Peyton Landry.

Henry now rests in heaven with his beloved family who preceded him in death, including his parents, Amanda and James Lantz; his sister, Lena Vanicor; his second wife, Patsy Trahan Lantz; his grandparents, Theophile Courville, Enda Gillchrist, Isreal Lantz and Cleveana Gary; and an infant great,grandchild, Biancha Lopez.

Carrying Henry to his eternal resting place will be Timothy Savoy, Jason Stewart, Will Landry, Dylan Trahan, Marvin Lantz, Ricky Gaspard, Malcolm Vanicor and Ronald Byrd.
