Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Jean Cormier McCluer, 77, of Jennings will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, in Miguez Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Phil Doucet officiating.

Visitation for Mrs. McCluer will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service time.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. McCluer was born on Dec. 28, 1943, in Jennings to Ellis and June Elizabeth Wilson Cormier. She passed away on Oct. 11, 2021, in Jennings American Legion Hospital.

Mrs. McCluer graduated from Jennings High School in 1961 and went on to obtain her masters +30 degree in special education, graduating from McNeese State University in 1966. She spent 30-plus years in the special education classroom and administration.

Her life’s mission was to help children with learning disabilities and other handicaps. Mrs. McCluer was able to overcome her own learning disabilities to accomplish these goals. She was a longtime and active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She continued working with children after her retirement by being a foster parent and tutoring.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Randy McCluer (Barbara) of Dallas, Texas, and Robert (Jolaine) McCluer of Jennings; as well as her five grandchildren, Jacob, Ali, Mia, Alex and Cece McCluer.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wendell McCluer, her parents and her sister, Charlotte Cormier Spell.
