The family and friends of Mabel Mallett Landry are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Sept. 13, 2021, at the age of 96.

Funeral services for Mabel Mallett Landry were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, with Bishop George McLaughlin officiating.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral service, with a Rosary recited by Brother Luke at 1:30 p.m.

Mabel was laid to rest in Calvary Mausoleum.

Mabel was born in Welsh to Odeleon Mallett and Helen Trahan Mallett on June 3, 1925.

She enjoyed spending her free time working at Holy Ghost Friary Church. Mabel loved cooking and taking care of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mabel is survived by her daughters, Nora Landry, Dora (Robert) Vincent, Faye (Jimmy) Miller, Kathy (Maurice) Maynor, Jenny (Steve) Sonnier and Mary (Michael) Calahan; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 42 great great-grandchildren; and one great great great-grandchild.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Odeleon and Helen T. Mallett; her husband, Edward J. Landry; sons, James Lee Landry and Edward J. Landry, Jr.; sons-in-law, G. Joe Landry and Lee LeBlanc; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Sonnier and C.J. Miller; brothers, Clarence, Roy Martin, and Otis Lee Mallett; and sisters, Irene Deshotel and Mazie Mallett.
