Job fair to highlight teaching opportunities

Qualifying individuals interested in future employment opportunities as an educator with the Jeff Davis Parish School Board are invited to attend an upcoming event organized to provide insight into what area campuses have to offer.

The school board holds the annual Educator Fair as a way of sharing information for those who are ready to start a career in education.

Wednesday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., school officials will be on-site at Lacassine High School.

“Anyone with a teaching certificate or who is enrolled in a teacher preparation program that is looking for employment in Jeff Davis Parish is invited to attend,” said Superintendent of Schools Kirk Credeur. “All principals and administrative staff will be present to answer questions and provide guidance.”

Credeur said interviews would also be held during the four-hour job fair for any open positions the school board is currently attempting to fill.

Assistant Superintendent John Hall said the school district is looking for teachers in all subjects throughout the parish.

“Our school staff and principals from every school will be present along with school board and central office staff,” said Hall.

Credeur said anyone who is interested could visit the district website for specific job opportunities. The website is www.jeffersondavis.org.

Credeur said those who are in search of employment as a teacher should bring a resume or curriculum vitae on the day of the event.

A curriculum vitae, commonly known as a CV, is an alternative to a written resume.

For those who are in need of more information before the event, Hall can be reached by email or by phone.

“Call the school board office at (337) 824-1834 or send an email to john.hall@jdpsbk12.org,” said Credeur.

Lacassine High School is located at 409 Algonia Ave. and the event is scheduled to take place in the school gymnasium.
