Top JDP school personnel, students honored

Standouts in Jeff Davis schools for the 2018-2019 academic year have been announced including principals, teachers, support personnel and students.

Principals of the Year include Elton Elementary principal David Harper, middle school-level winner Amanda Fontenot of Lake Arthur High and Jennings High leader Wilbert Gilbeaux.

Elementary level honorees for Teacher of the Year include overall winner Chelsey Hetzel from Welsh Elementary; Junilla Byrne, Elton; Elaine Comeaux, Fenton; Jennings Young, Hathaway; Tracie Smith, James Ward; Kelly Chaisson, Jennings; Erica LeBlanc, Lacassine; and Mandy Broussard, Lake Arthur.

Jazzmin Evans, a Jennings High educator, was named the overall winner in the middle school Teacher of the Year category. Those also honored in this category include Jessica Guillory, Elton; Melissa Sawyer, Hathaway; Micah Rasberry, Lacassine; Tana Garcia, Lake Arthur; and Ashlyn Watkins, Welsh-Roanoke.

On the high school level, Erin Williams from Jennings High received top honors. Other honorees include Roland Lacombe of Elton; Emily Lavergne, Hathaway; Lee Ann Vincent, Lacassine; Vickie Sketoe, Lake Arthur; and Jeremiah Gueringer, Welsh.

Support Persons of the Year include Natalie Courville, Elton Elementary; Cheryl Price, Elton High; Brooke Coffman, Fenton; Charlotte St. Germain, Hathaway; Christy Hine, Hathaway; Angie Ardoin, Jennings Elementary; Georgette Ray, James Ward; Barbara Flanagan, Jennings High; Al Broussard, Jennings High; Jo Chadwick, Lacassine; Tara Bourgeois, Lacassine; Leroy Hanks, Lake Arthur High; Corey Jolie, Welsh Elementary; and Christine Fontenot, Welsh High.

Last but not least, Students of the Year are elementary-level winner Elodie Paquette of Lake Arthur Elementary, Hathaway middle-schooler Justin Duhon and Welsh High School student Kennedy Mallett.
