Adaun Da’Quantae Gaines passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 19, 2023. He was 5 years old.

A Celebration of Adaun‘s life was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gerald Perkins officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, from 9 a.m. until the time of his service at 2 p.m.

Burial followed in Andrus Cove Cemetery. Adaun loved to laugh and be silly and his Hero was Spiderman. His cousins were his best friends, and he was happy any chance he got to be with them. There was never a dull moment with Adaun and his family will deeply miss his infectious smile and adventurous heart.

Adaun leaves behind to cherish his memories, his parents, Antwone Gaines of Tulsa, Okla., and JaQualla Lynn Perry of Jennings; his sister, Aleyiah Gaines; his brothers, August Gaines, Antwone Gaines, Jr., and A’Duius Gaines; his maternal grandparents, Amanda (Michael Marcantel) of Kinder and Ollie Hawkins of Jennings; his paternal grandmother, Luretha Carr of Stillwater, Okla.; his aunts, Amber Marcantel and Kurstin Richard; his uncles, Devon Marcantel and Bryson Richard and his cousins, Tevontae Gotreaux and T’Shaun Gotreaux, Kaydin Lennette and Rhett Chenevert.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Laura Daniels.

Those chosen to honor Adaun as his pallbearers were his uncles.
