Funeral Services for Clyde Smith, 86, of Jennings will be held at Mathews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings today, Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at 4 p.m.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home today, Friday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. until the time of his funeral service.

Clyde will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery with Full Military Rites.

Clyde Smith was born in Jennings on Aug. 23, 1933, to Rufus Smith and Eleanor Bellard Smith. He was called to his Heavenly Father on Oct. 22, 2019.

Clyde served our country honorably in the Army, after which he went on to work for Superior Oil Company, which became Mobil Oil, until his retirement from the company. After his retirement, Clyde drove for Bubba Oustalet for 20-plus years. He loved mowing grass, working on cars and woodworking. Above all, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Clyde was a kind and loving person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Wanda Frey Smith of Jennings; son, Jarrod (Shelly Conner) Smith of Jennings; daughter, Jana Smith (Jonathan) Demo of Westlake; grandchildren, Zachary and Kelsey Benoit, both of Westlake; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Hillard “Bobby” Smith of Jennings; and sisters, Ludie Trahan and Janice Comeaux, both of Jennings.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Eleanor B. Smith; six brothers; and one sister.
