George W. Louviere, Jr.

George W. Louviere Jr., 93 years young, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, in Lake Charles after a short illness.

His funeral service will be held in Welsh at a time yet to be determined.

George was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Welsh to the late George W. Sr. and Iris Louviere. He attended school in Welsh and after serving in the Merchant Marines at the end of WWII, he married Rose Newman. They were happily married for over 65 years before she passed in 2013.

He was a lifelong resident of Welsh and was active in the community, including the former fire chief of the Welsh Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He impacted the lives of many friends along his path of life in the community. Dad loved life and lived it to its fullest. He loved visiting with his family and friends, listening to Cajun music and working his yearly gardens. Although he had health issues, he had an amazing mind and memory of anyone he knew. He will be missed terribly.

His loving family includes Ferdie Cooley, Bryan and Gerry Louviere, Julie and Ira Vinson, Dionne and Todd Hine and the late Wade Louviere; his grandchildren, Shane Hebert, Troy and Sheila Hebert, Trevor and Stacie Louviere, Bruce Louviere, Lacy Vinson, Alex Vinson and the late Jon Michael Humphery; his great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hebert, Gentry Hebert, Karli Hebert, Alex Humphery, Riley Humphery, Jacob Humphery, Kalli Vinson, Knox Vinson and Adelyn Louviere; and his siblings, the late A.W. Louviere, Bobby Louviere, Peggy Calloway and the late Jimmy Louviere and all their many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In loving memory, his spirit will live in our hearts until we meet again!
