LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral services for Mr. James H. “Jimmy” Broussard of Lake Arthur will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating. Visitation for Mr. Broussard will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, June 10, and continue until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.

Burial with Military Graveside Honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mr. Broussard passed away June 6, 2019, in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings.

He was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Lake Arthur. He was a graduate of Lake Arthur High School, after which he served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Upon his return home, Mr. Jimmy operated Broussard’s Phillips 66 for many years. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scout master. He served the citizens of Lake Arthur as a city councilman and was very proud to give back to his community in this manner. He enjoyed restoring vintage Volkswagens. Mr. Jimmy enjoyed his family immensely and especially enjoyed family gatherings.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Teigen Broussard; daughters, Jamie (Bernan) Theunissen of Jennings and Susan (Ray) Matt of Lake Arthur; sons, Dale Broussard of Lafayette, Drew (Betsy) Broussard of Friendswood, Texas, and Duke (fiancée Courtney) Broussard of Lake Arthur; sister, Roberta (Malon) Dobson of Lake Arthur; 14 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.

Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his parents, Duke and Naomi Bonin Broussard; and granddaughter, Kristin LaBauve.
