It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jimmie Durand LeJeune announces her passing from this life on Dec. 17, 2020, at the age of 94.

Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Jason Hoychick officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, from 8 a.m. until the time of her service at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Andrus Cove Cemetery. Jimmie was born in Reids to Archie Durand and Gracie

Jimmie was born in Reids to Archie Durand and Gracie Martin Durand on Jan. 31, 1926. She worked as an LPN at Jeff Davis Living Center for many years, then at American Legion Hospital in Crowley until her retirement. Her greatest joys in life came from the time she spent with her family and the memories she made with them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jimmie leaves behind to cherish those memories her sons, George (Polly) Bonin and Jim (Betty) Bonin; her daughter-in-law, Faye Smith; her 13 grandchildren; her 25 great-grandchildren; and her five great great-grandchildren.

Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Gracie Durand; her beloved husband, Alexander LeJeune; her sons, Vick Smith and Marty Bonin; her sisters, Irene Smith, Loyal Reed and Ella Gaskin; and her brothers, Wilson Durand and William “Shorty” Durand.

Those chosen to honor Jimmie as her pallbearers will be Matt McKnight, Tim McKnight, John Bonin, Kyle Smith, Kris Bonin and Carson Crochet.
