It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Brother Jimmie Thibodeaux announces his passing from this life on Feb. 20, 2019, at the age of 79.

Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings today, Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at 2 p.m., with Brother Clifford Brown officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, from 4-10 p.m. Visitation resumed today, Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, from 10 a.m. until the time of his service at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with full Military Rites.

Jimmie was born in Jennings to Sadie Thibodeaux and Melanie LeJeune Thibodeaux on Jan. 2, 1940. Jimmie loved the outdoors, fishing and playing golf. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends or when he was spreading the word of God. Jimmie never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Adele A. Thibodeaux of Jennings; his son, Chad G. Thibodeaux of Jennings; his stepdaughter, Velvet LeGros of Welsh; his six grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; his five stepchildren, Dale Armentor, Christine Zaunbrecher, Leslie Armentor, Dwayne Armentor and Michael Armentor; his 13 stepgrandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Sadie and Melanie Thibodeaux; his first wife, Helen Thibodeaux; his two sisters, Liza Louviere and Lizamare Deshotel; and his six brothers, Harry, L.J., Bill, Lanny, Allie and Melton.

Pallbearers will be Chad G. Thibodeaux, II, Landon S Thibodeaux, Ira May, Leslie Armentor, Dwayne Armentor and Maurice Hollier.
