Mr. Jozef Dolejsi, 68, died at 8:53 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, in Camelot Brookside Nursing Home in Jennings.

A memorial service for Mr. Dolejsi will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, in Miguez Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.

Visitation will be held from noon until time of services.

His wishes were to have his body cremated.

He was a native of Slovakia, Zilina, and a resident of Jennings for 28 years. He retired as a civil engineer, having received his degree from Slovak State Technical University. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking and cross-country skiing. He was a self-made scholar of geography, astronomy and physics. Jozef took great pride in preserving Slovak tradition through story-telling and being an exceptional home chef for his family and friends. He was a soccer and tennis fan who was also a dog lover.

Survivors include his wife, Olga Zboranova Dolejsiova of Jennings; one daughter, Katarina Dolejsiova of Jennings; two sons, Matthew (Ashley) Dolejsi of Baton Rouge and Juraj Dolejsi of Bratislava, Slovakia; two sisters, Eva and Elena; three brothers, Stefan, Jan and Anton; and three grandchildren, Marek, Gavin and Rhett Dolejsi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frantisek Dolejsi and Edita Kyskova Dolejsiova; and one brother, Frantisek.
