Funeral services for Kevin Doyle Millican, 49, were held Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings.

Visitation began at 10 a.m. in the church, followed by a rosary at 11 a.m., led by Father Michael Caraway. Funeral mass began at noon, officiated by Father Keith Pellerin.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mr. Millican died suddenly Wednesday, July 21, 2021.

He was a native and life resident of Jennings and a graduate of Jennings High School, where he was an All-District, All-State baseball player. He set several hitting records in Jennings baseball that still stand.

He attended Southeastern Louisiana University where he was elected to the All-Conference baseball team. He received his bachelor’s degree in business marketing.

After graduation, he was drafted in the 13th round by the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and started his professional baseball career with Hudson Valley in the Penn/State League. The following year, he was promoted to High A Ball, playing for the Charleston River Dogs.

He returned to school and, in 1999, received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Southern University.

Kevin engaged in the private practice of law for 21 years. He served as the city attorney and the prosecutor for the City of Jennings from 2000 until the time of his death. He served as an Assistant District Attorney for 20 years and was elected and sworn in as District Attorney in January 2021.

He was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association and was president of the Jeff Davis Bar Association.

Mr. Millican was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians, where he served on the parish council and was a member of the school board of Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School. He was also a member of Jennings Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Bar Association, Jeff Davis Parish Bar Association and Louisiana District Attorney’s Association. Kevin was a man of great faith and a leader to all who knew him. May we all remember him as the humble man that he was.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Kristy Anderson Millican; two loving daughters, Abbie Lauren Millican and Grace Anne Millican; devoted son, William Joseph Millican; loving mother, Jacquelyn Suarez Millican; brother and sister-in-law, F. Jefferson and Lisa Millican, Jr.; sister, Hannah Millican Plummer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Linda Anderson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Amy Anderson; and nieces and nephews, Sarah Millican, Ford Millican, Luke Millican and Payton Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Our Lady Immaculate School, 600 Roberts Ave., Jennings, LA 70546.
