Funeral services for Larry Thomas “Shrimp Man” Koonce, 81, of Jennings will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings at 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2021, with Brother Denise House officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021. A tribute to Larry will be held at 6 p.m.

Visitation will resume Friday, June 4, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of his service at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Larry was born in Sulphur on Sept. 10, 1939, to Harry S. Koonce and Alma Parker Koonce. He was called from this earthly life by his Heavenly Father on June 2, 2021. Larry served our country honorably in the Navy.

He loved the outdoors, running lines and catfishing, as well as working in his garden. Larry also enjoyed buying and selling things and playing board games with his family.

He was a kind and generous man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia D. Koonce of Jennings; his son, Anthony Thomas Koonce of Jennings; his daughters, Emily Holloway (Ricky) of Forest Hill and Tricia LeJeune of Jennings; his six grandchildren, Myah, Jonathon, Devin, Katlin, Kyle and Elina; his six great-grandchildren, Naomi, Michael, Dawson, Erabella, Anastasia and Lillian; his brother, Curtis Koonce of Sulphur; and his sister, Sheila Seallers of Sulphur.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry S. And Alma Koonce; and his daughter-in-law, Melenie Koonce.

Those chosen to honor Larry as pallbearers will be Anthony Koonce, Jonathon Holloway, Devin Holloway, Kyle Trahan, Michael Deshotel and Ricky Holloway.
