Lawrence “Larry” Olin Kratzer, 76, died Sunday, March 17, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born on Oct. 21, 1942, to Lawrence Kratzer Sr. and Peggy (McMillian) Kratzer.

A gathering of Larry’s family and friends will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings from 10-11:30 a.m., immediately followed by a short service. From the funeral home, everyone will proceed to Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Arthur for graveside services.

Larry was raised in the Roanoke area and was an avid basketball player. While he did not follow the farming tradition of his family, he was passionate about animal husbandry, which was one thing he regretted not pursuing. Larry’s career path took him into banking and accounting, a career to which he was well-suited. He knew what a calculator was, but he never had use for one as he could do it all in his head.

Larry was well-liked and active in social circles throughout his life. This carried into his final time that he spent at Golden Age of Welsh. It was evident that he was very much loved there and will be missed by many. Specifically, Larry was active in the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club through the years.

Survivors include his sons and their families: Robert and Melanie Kratzer, grandchildren Laesha and Tanner, great-grandchildren Ostin Duncan, Ayden Duncan, Miles Watson, Rowyn Duncan and Sylor Duncan; Roland and Shannon Kratzer, grandchild Caleb, great-grandchildren Cailen and Cortlin; and Richard Kratzer, grandchildren Dannielle, Michael and Amanda. Also, his sisters, Cindy Breaux and Phayla Kratzer; and brother, Craig Kratzer.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Kratzer; his mother, Peggy Kratzer; and his brother, Jerry Kratzer.
