The family and friends of Lenora Dixon Blackwell are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on April 2, 2020, at the age of 89.

Funeral services to honor Lenora’s life will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Friday, April 3, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Brother Darrel Hieronymus officiating.

A gathering will be held at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. today, Friday, April 3, 2020.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Lenora was born March 18, 1931, to Norwood Dixon and Rose Boone Dixon.

Lenora was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the care of her family. She was a prayer warrior and a Sunday school teacher who devoted her life to serving God. Lenora loved gardening and serving people. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. Lenora was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Lenora is survived by her daughter, Myra Comeaux (Marlin) of Jennings; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Land; her five grandchildren, Rebecca Ainsworth, Sara Blackwell, Joseph Blackwell (Stephanie), Jenny Gotreaux (Brandon) and Maggie Comeaux; and her nine greatgrandchildren, Katelyn Harris, Gregory Harris, Jr., Lance Harris, Anna Siegert, Catalina Siegert, Anderson Siegert, Kenneth Blackwell, Laney Blackwell and Kourtney Ainsworth.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, Norwood and Rose Boone Dixon; her husband, Bob Blackwell; her son, Rodney Blackwell; and her dear friends, Clifford and Sue Whiddon.

Those chosen to honor Lenora as her pallbearers will be Marlin Comeaux, Brandon Gotreaux, Gregory Harris, Jr., Lance Harris, Paul Estes and Darrell Hieronymus.
