It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lillian Simon Lopez announces her passing from this life on April 18, 2019, at the age of 94.

Funeral services were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 4 p.m.. with Brother Jack Harris officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held in the funeral home Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. until the time of her service at 4 p.m.

Burial followed in the Calvary Mausoleum.

Lillian was born in Jennings to John Simon and Adele Landry Simon in April 1924. She was a seamstress and loved being with her family, serving God and sewing. Lillian loved working with flowers, embroidering, reading her Bible, good eating (pizza) and swinging on her swing. Lillian was a kind and loving soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lillian is survived by her four daughters, L. Jeanelle Lopez Rider (Richard) of Talihina, Okla., Kathleen Joyce Bell (Alvey) of Jennings, Jackie L. Manuel (David) of Jennings and Trisha Ann Lopez Manuel (Paul) of Jennings; her sister, Anna Mae Prejean of Texas; her seven grandchildren, Darleen, Dale Ann, Daniel, Rachel, Jesecca, Bonnie and Sammy; her 14 great-grandchildren; as well as her eight great great-grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, John and Adele Simon; and her beloved husband, Leno J. Lopez.

Carrying Lillian to her final resting place will be Danny Rider, Derek Shaw, Dave Shaw, Doug Creger, Tommy Prejean and Travis Crossland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Rider, Phil Doucet and Tod Hawkins.
