Funeral services for Norman Lee Hebert, Sr., 78, of Evangeline will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at 2 p.m., with Brother Gary DarDar officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home beginning Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. The family requests that visitation resume Friday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. until the time of his funeral service.

Norman will be laid to rest in Tee Mamou Cemetery with Full Military Rites.

Norman was born in Jennings on Nov. 17, 1941, to Theophille Hebert and Attie Bergeaux. He was called from this life on Feb. 4, 2020.

Norman worked in the oilfield as a mud engineer. In his free time, he loved going to his camp, cooking and eating with family and friends, going to the casino and watching football, especially the New Orleans Saints. Norman greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a kind and loving man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Melba Hebert of Evangeline; his three sons, Norman “Skeeter” Hebert, Jr. (Jennifer) of Evangeline, David Hebert (Dawn) of Evangeline and Daniel Hebert (Monika) of Tee Mamou; his two daughters, Stacy Hebert of Evangeline and Monica “Monkey” Benoit (Karl) of Evangeline; his nine grandchildren, Brittany, Chaz, Gabrielle, Cody, Alex, Kinsley, Kaden, Hunter and Hayden; and his brother, Neil “Neil-O” Hebert (Sandra) of Evangeline.

Norman is now rejoicing with those who preceded in death including his parents, Theophille and Attie Hebert; two granddaughters, Hanna and Hailey Hebert; four brothers, Ricky, Roland, Arlene and Tommy Hebert; and one sister, Joan Andrepont.

Those chosen to carry Norman to his final resting place will be Mark Britt, Mike Hatcher, Alex Benoit, Cody Hebert, Brandon Thibodeaux and Chaz Manning.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Hebert, Hayden Hebert and Kaden Benoit.
