It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ruth Ann Chiasson Smith announces her passing from this life on April 6, 2020, at the age of 68.

Graveside services for Ruth Ann Chiasson Smith, 68, of Jennings will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings today, Thursday, April 9, 2020, at 11:30 a.m., with Father Susil Fernando officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Thursday, April 9, from 9-11 a.m.

Ruth was born in Galveston, Texas, to Clifford Chiasson and Ina Deshotel Chiasson on March 31, 1952. Ruth worked as a housekeeper and cook. She really enjoyed working. In her spare time, Ruth loved reading, doing crossword puzzle, and she also enjoyed fishing. Her greatest joys came from spending time with all of her family, especially her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great great-grandkids. She was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left behind to cherish their memories of Ruth are her three sons, Charlie Chiasson (Mandie) of Lake Arthur, Michael (Myra) Chiasson of Jennings and Glen Chiasson (Penny) of Lake Arthur; her daughter, Tracee Chiasson of Welsh; her two brothers, Douglas Chiasson and Hillard Chiasson; her sister, Mary Jane Smith; as well as 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great greatgrandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Ina Chiasson; her beloved husband, James ”Smitty” Smith; her daughter, Kimberly Renee Chiasson; two brothers, Lonnie and Larry Chiasson; three sisters, Betty and Delores Chiasson and Patricia Richard; and her grandson, Dakota Chiasson.

Those chosen to honor Ruth as her pallbearers will be Charlie Chiasson, Douglas Chiasson, Gustin Bonin, Skylar Authement, Zachery Chiasson and David Richard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Hendrickson, Steven “Chi” Bonin and Dylan Chiasson.
