Shirley was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Jennings to the late Lodee Brown and the late Clifton Carey. She was a native of Jennings and a resident of Baton Rouge.

Shirley was baptized at an early age at Mount Triumph Baptist Church in Jennings. She had a kind heart and was always willing to help others. She enjoyed working in her beautiful yard.
