Sidney Joel Manuel

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church for Sidney Joel Manuel, 67, of Crosby, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at 11 a.m., with Father Alan Trouille officiating.

Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home beginning today, Friday, Nov. 29, from 3-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. The family requests that visitation resume Saturday, Nov. 30, from 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Sid was born in Jennings on May 27, 1952, to Saday Manuel and Ellen Manuel. He was called from this life on Nov. 25, 2019, at the age of 67. Sid loved spending time with his family and friends and especially loved being with his grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Sid was a longtime member of the Houston Livestock and Rodeo. He enjoyed participating in barbecue cook-offs and catering. Sid also shared his love of motorcycles with his son and grandson. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sid is survived by beloved wife of 47 years, Kathy Manuel; his son, Shaun Manuel; his daughter, Sarah (Robert) Harvey; his four grandchildren, Sadie, Stratton, Shaun and Matthew; as well as Britney Manuel.

Sid is preceded in death by his parents, Saday and Ellen Manuel; and his brother, James Manuel.
