The family and friends of Stephen Dale Richard are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on May 19, 2019, at the age of 65.

Funeral services for Stephen Dale Richard, 65, of Jennings will be held at First Baptist Church in Jennings on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 10 a.m., with Dr. Jeff Cook officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 20, at First

Baptist Church in Jennings from 5-9 p.m. and will resume Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral service.

Burial will follow his services in Greenwood Cemetery.

Stephen was born in Jennings to A.B. Richard, Jr. and Williene Reed Richard on March 15, 1954. Stephen served our country honorably in the Navy and Army reserves. He worked for the Jennings Police Department for six years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jennings. In his spare time Stephen liked to play golf, build guitars and work on electronics. He also loved to cook for his family and friends. His greatest joy came from the time he was able to spend with all his family, especially his wife, his sons and his grandchildren. Stephen was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda K. Richard of Jennings; his two sons, William B. Richard (Valdilene) of Jennings and James A. Richard (Stephanie) of Jennings; his five grandchildren, James, II, Zachary, Amiee, Nichelle and Nicole; and his sister, Vickie Breaux (Shelton) of Jennings.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Williene Richard, Jr.; his brother, A.B. Richard, III; and his sister, Brenda Lee Saenz.

Carrying Stephen to his final resting place in Greenwood Cemetery will be Kyle Reed, Dwayne Ardoin, Max Laidlaw, John Sandiford and Brent Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelton Breaux and Roger Fontenot.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations to assist with the cost with his final expenses. Donations may be made to his family or directly to Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
