The family and friends of Tommy Chaisson are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on July 17, 2020.

Funeral service for Thomas “Tommy” James Chaisson, 63, will be held in Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel today, Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at 2 p.m., with Brother Pat officiating.

Tommy will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery following his services.

Tommy was born in Kinder to John Chaisson and Dorothy Fontenot Chaisson on March 11, 1957. He worked as a police officer for Jennings Police Department until his retirement, and as police chief in Welsh for eight years. He was a former employee of Allen Correctional Facility, employed by Chennault and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Tommy enjoyed competing in the police union’s shooting competitions. He loved motorcycles, but above all Tommy loved barbecuing with his friends and family. Tommy will be significantly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Stephanie Simon Chaisson of Jennings; sons, Christopher (Paris) Chaisson of Moss Bluff, Thomas James Chaisson II of Fort Polk, Ryan (Brittany) Willis of Hathaway, Christian (Mia) Chaisson of Jennings, Dakota (Gabby) Chaisson of Welsh, Rogers (Maggie) Chaisson of Hathaway, Troy (Rachel) Pelsia of Lafayette, Jordan Pelsia of Jennings, Brilyn Clement of Jennings and Kaysen Clement of Jennings; daughters, Kimberly Chaisson of Lake Charles, Chelsea (Erin) LaPoint of Lake Arthur, Kelsey (Franciso) Salamanca of Orange, Texas, and Aubrey Clement of Jennings; grandchildren, Liam Chaisson of Jennings, Brianna, William, Savanna, Alexander Chaisson, all of Moss Bluff, Natalia Salamanca and Erica LaPoint; sister, Pat Tauzin of Pasadena, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy F. Chaisson; brother, Larry “Butch” Joseph Tauzin; and niece, Heidi Tauzin.

Carrying Tommy to his final resting place in Greenwood will be Christian Chaisson, Rogers Chaisson, T.J. Chaisson, Chris Chaisson, Jordan Pelsia and Dakota Chaisson.
