A Mass of Christian burial for Viola B. Broussard of Jennings will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at 10 a.m., with Father Charles McMillin officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Sunday, Feb.3, 2019, from 2:30-7 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, Feb. 4, from 8 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass.

Viola will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.

Viola was born on March 20, 1928, to Lucien and Elizabeth Broussard and was called to her Heavenly Father on Jan. 30, 2019, at the age of 91. Viola worked as a hairdresser as well as a homemaker, in which she was dedicated to the care of her family. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Ladies Altar Society, as well as being a past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and loved helping out at the Council on Aging. Viola also loved to garden, cook, play bingo and visit with her family and friends every chance she had. She was a kind and loving woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Viola is survived by her four children, Terry Glen Broussard of Farmington, N.M., Patrick Keith Broussard of Nederland, Texas, Mary Elizabeth Broussard Eirich of Slidell and Sonja Ann Broussard Landry of Jennings; her 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Viola now rejoices in heaven with her parents, Lucien and Elizabeth Broussard; her beloved husband, Felix Broussard, Jr.;, her brothers, Henry, Leon and Lee Broussard; her sisters, Evalia Simpson, Madia Martin and Edia “Bic” Benoit; and her grandson, Derrick Broussard.
