Virginia ‘Ginny’ Deshotel

LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral services for Ms. Virginia “Ginny” Deshotel Kratzer, 69, of Lake Arthur were held Sunday, April 7, 2019, at noon at First Baptist Church of Lake Arthur under the direction of Bro. Jered Thomas. The service followed the normal 10 a.m. church service.

Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Ms. Kratzer was held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lake Arthur, and continued until 9 p.m. Visitation resumed Sunday morning from 8-9:30 a.m.

Ms. Kratzer was born in Mamou but lived in the Lake Arthur area most of her life. She obtained an associate’s degree and worked in bookkeeping and accounting. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake Arthur where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Unity. She also served as director of Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes project. Ms. Kratzer enjoyed reading her Bible, singing, sewing, crocheting, missionary work and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Vickie (Kirk) Conner of Lake Arthur; a son, Byron (Renee) Broussard of Gretna; three sisters, Mary (Francis) Dugas of Oberlin, Joycelyn (Russell) LeJeune of Lake Charles and Margaret (Michael) Roy of Deridder; two brothers, Johnny Deshotel of Basile and Timothy (Liddie) Deshotel of Rowlett, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Elby and Aza Mae Young Deshotel.
