Wanda ‘Moozie’ Gail Guidry Chaisson

A Mass of Christian burial for Wanda “Moozie” Gail Guidry Chaisson, 61, of Hathaway will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Hathaway today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Father William Miller officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Her family requests that her visitation resume today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 8 a.m. until the time of her mass.

Wanda will be laid to rest in Raymond/Hathaway Community Cemetery.

Wanda was called from this life unto the next on Jan. 17, 2020. She was born on Oct. 9, 1958, in Jennings to Amar “AJ” Guidry, Jr., and Mary Lou Martin Guidry. For many years, Wanda worked as a child care provider while also devoting her time to her cherished family. In her spare time, she enjoyed babysitting, scrolling through Facebook and sewing. Above all, Wanda loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She will be tremendously missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Randy Chaisson of Hathaway; daughter, Valerie Chaisson (Matthew) Doise of Hathaway; grandchildren, Maverick Morvant, Abbi Dois, and Lanie Romero; brothers, Randol Guidry of Lake Arthur, Gary (Geneva) Guidry, Sr. of Lake Arthur and Chad Guidry of Deer Park, Texas; and sisters, Brenda (Jed) O’Blanc of Lake Arthur and Shyla (Jared) Manuel of Lake Arthur.

Wanda now rejoices in heaven with her parents, Amar and Mary M. Guidry, Jr.; daughter, Cassie Chaisson; sister, Malinda Hurst; and niece, Samantha Ann Guidry.

Carrying Wanda to her final resting place in Raymond/ Hathaway Community Cemetery will be Maverick Morvant, Garrette Guidry, Ken Chaisson, Chad Guidry, Andy Stoute and Randol Guidry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stoney Romero, Matthew Doise, Hunter Hurst, Aaron Hurst, Gary Guidry, Jr., Gavin Guidry, Gary Guidry, Sr., Josh Guidry, Jacob Guidry, Alex O’Blanc, Gordan O’Blanc, Mason O’Blanc, Cody Guidry, Hayden Manuel, Kenny Chaisson and Brandon Morvant.
