Trail ride set to benefit St. Jude

For the sixth year running, one man’s dream for helping the children of St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital continues to grow. Glenn Daigle has always had a love for children and his heart always had the desire to help the ones in need. Throughout his life he continuously donated to the famous research hospital on a personal level, but six years ago he decided to change thing up and help the children of the Memphis hospital in a bigger way.

Daigle started a two day event, “Daigle Farms Saddle Up for St. Jude”, which features a trail ride to raise funds to send to St. Jude. The event has grown tremendously in the past six years and so has the donation amount. In 2011 the very first event raised and donated an estimated $13,000 to the hospital. Last year, the fifth annual Saddle Up for St. Jude raised nearly six times the amount raised the first year. An estimated $80,000 was raised and donated to the hospital from the 2017 event. Over the 5 year, an estimated $225,000 has been sent to the children of St. Jude directly from the profits raised at the “Saddle Up” event.

This years annual Saddle Up for St. Jude will be held April 6-7 at Daigle Farms, 379 Hwy 165 in Iowa. On Friday, April 6, gates open at 9 a.m. That evening, Jamie Bergeron will entertain the crowd from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Gumbo will be served on Friday evening. On Saturday, April 7, gates once again open at 9 a.m. and the day starts with the annual trail ride. Lunch and drinks will be served along the ride and it will end back at Daigle farms that evening for a dance with entertainment by Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie from 7:30 p.m. unitl midnight.

Events to be held throughout the weekend include, split the pot drawing, action, good food, and cold wine and beer. Horse trailers, motor homes and campers are all welcome. The cost to enter is $10 per person for the trail ride and $10 per person for the dance each night. For more information, contact Glenn Daigle at 337-802-8168. All profits made during all of the Saddle Up events will be directly donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
