ELTON - Vicente “Ben” Santos Benavente of Benbrook, Texas, age 89, entered into eternal rest on Thursday March 29th, 2018.

A funeral mass for Vicente Benavente will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Rev. Jose Vattakunnel officiating.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Elton from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018. Visitation will resume on Friday at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery.

Vicente was born in Tumon, Guam, USA, on Nov. 2, 1928. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired as a master sergeant. Following his military service, he worked for the Port Authority of Guam and was the Director of Public Works in Jennings. Vicente enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, travelling and being with family. He will be remembered as a man of faith teaching those he loved the strong values of taking pride in your culture, prioritizing family, embracing your personal gifts and the importance of learning and practicing humility.

In his new life he now joins his parents, Joaquin Benavente and Rita Santos; his parents-in-law, Mary Robinson Langley and Gardener Langley; and his siblings, Joaquin, Agrepina, Jose, Antonio, Jesus, Leonila and Cristobal Benavente.

Those left to cherish Vicente’s memory include his wife, Virginia Langley Benavente, and children Tina Benavente, Vicente Benavente, Lolita Benavente, Francisca Castillo and son-in-law Alfred Castillo. He will also leave behind five grandchildren, Lawrence Santiago, Dana Santiago, Randy Santiago, Vicente Santiago and Ian Castillo; and great-grandchildren, Roma Santiago and Tasi Santiago.
