The 25th annual Jeff Davis Parish Fair Talent Show is right around the corner and parish residents are encouraged to sign up and show off their talent.

Age divisions for solo and duet include 5-7 years; 8-10 years; 11-13 years, 14-18 years and 19 and older. Participants performing in a group may also do additional solo or duet performances. Group age divisions are the same, and a large indoor-outdoor carpet will be provided for teams to compete on.

First, second and third place winners will be announced in the solo and duet divisions in each age bracket. Each will receive a trophy, and the first place winner is invited back to perform for Thursday evening’s parish queen pageant.

First and second place winners will be recognized in the groups and each age divisions. First place will receive $40 while second will earn $20. Participants ages 19 and over will compete in the group division even if there is only one person performing. An overall winner for the solo and duet divisions, as well as an overall winner for the group divisions, will be chosen by highest score. Each will receive a plaque.

An informational meeting will be held Thursday evening, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds. This meeting is mandatory, and minor participants must be accompanied by a parent or teacher. Interested participants cannot enter the event unless prior arrangements have been made.

A copy of music to be performed must be turned in so organizers can review contents. Parents or teachers must sign consent forms, and participants cannot perform without approved consent. No vulgar moves or language will be tolerated.

If parties need to meet in advance with organizers, please contact Kay Lessard.

Singers are urged to use instrumental/karaoke music.

All contestants will be issued a tag to wear at the event and only one parent or teacher will be allowed in the designated roped area. This tag must be worn to gain entry into the designated area. Groups not wearing uniforms must provide an accurate number of participants to ensure each member receives a tag. This practice is to ensure to safety of the children, and the public is asked to assist with these efforts.

The talent show is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the fairground pavilion. There is no entry fee, but the event is only open to Jeff Davis residents.
