Jennings native Richard Lasher was recently laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., along with his wife Annie. Lasher began his career in the military in medical air evacuation and was stationed throughout the country before joining the war efforts in Europe during WWII. Lasher was also later stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss., Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier Parish and a base in Turkey. The Honor Guard also participated in the time-honored battlefield custom of firing three volleys and the playing of “Taps” in remembrance of Lasher. His son, Don, and grandson, Michael, were in attendance. Richard Lasher passed away when the world was shut down due to the global pandemic. Lasher was cremated and his ashes were delivered to Virginia by his family. Michael was presented his flag by the Arlington National Cemetery Honor Guard (bottom right photo).
