The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) would like to warn residents about fake announcements that have surfaced in recent weeks. The statements indicated that due to the coronavirus outbreak, anyone fishing or hunting during this time would be fined.

Bethel Church in Jennings held a prayer vigil Wednesday night at Jennings American Legion Hospital. People lined up in their cars to pray and show support for the hospital employees on the front lines of COVID-19. Attendees sang the worship song “Waymaker” and hands were lifted up from vehicles.
As of press time Thursday, 30 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed within Jeff Davis Parish with two deaths. According to the Louisiana Department of Health, 573 parish residents have been tested for the virus.
