JENNINGS — Funeral services for Mrs. Noella Lyons Black, 100, of New Orleans will be held on Monday, August 7 at 1 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
John Mamoulides passed away peacefully this week at the age of 90 with both his children at his side. He is reunited with his wife Savilla on the 69th anniversary of their marriage. Born in 1933 in Crowley, he was the youngest of four children of Greek immigrants, Mitchell and Pansy Mamoulides. All of the children grew up working in the family café in Crowley. John played sports at Crowley High, enjoyed hunting and fishing, swimming in the rice canals and skiing on the Mermentau River on homemade skis. At age 12, he began taking on other jobs to help support the family after his father died.
Celebration of Life Services for Effie Mary Gloston-Celestine, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 5 at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 North State St. in Jennings. Minister Jonathan McZeal will officiate. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. in the Mortuary Church Chapel. Burial will be in Branch Cemetery in Branch to rest with other family members who have passed on. Final arrangements are entrusted to Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
JENNINGS — It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Joyce Ann Fournet announces her passing from this life on July 31, 2023, at the age of 82. Joyce was born in Bogalusa to Octave Hymel, Sr., and Layde Mae Rodrique on September 12, 1940. Joyce dedicated her life to the care of her family. She was a Eucharistic Minister. She was also an administrative assistant at Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School. She loved working with children in the class and on the playground. She was a kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Edwina M. “Rennie” (Davis) McIntire, age 80, of Upperstrasburg, Pa., passed away July 26, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born August 31, 1942 in Bruceville, Md. to the late Earl Edward and Clara Mae “Tally” (Porter) Davis.
LAKE ARTHUR — Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Charles, 84, of Lake Arthur will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at Antioch Baptist Church, 625 Iowa Avenue in Lake Arthur with Pastor Reverend Emerson Baty, Sr., officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Internment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Arthur under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
