JENNINGS DAILY NEWS June 24, 1988 Jeff Davis Parish Courthouse employees were treated to a surprise visit by movie producer and actor Ron Howard recently when the celebrated Hollywood talent made a brief stop in Jennings.
The attention of persons suffering from Eye, Ear, Nose or Throat troubles is called tot eh fact that a clinic will be held at the Sanitarium Friday, Feb. 25th, at which all persons suffering from any of the above diseases may have their cases examined by a Specialist.

Master Sergeant Daly Williams is probably the first Jennings soldier to visit Moscow and he has written of a visit to the Russian capital. The weather, he says, is not yet freezing, but not far from it, giving a foretaste of what Russian winters are like.
The Jeff Davis rice harvest is gradually reaching a peak, and as a result many of the facilities for drying and milling the grain are working at top speed and on 24-hour basis.
A story in the Beaumont Enterprise of a 91-year-old greatgreat-grandmother receiving a letter from England's queen was of great interest in Jennings. Mrs. D. R. Weyand, of Dallas, who received the treasured letter is the grandmother of Mrs. O.H. Clary of this city.
