Knights of Columbus Council 2012 recently met to discuss business, where they honored two families. Grand Knight Tommy Dennis (left photo, from left) awarded Jon Lamb with Knight of the Month. Jon’s wife, Jodi, was also in attendance. Additionally, Dennis (right photo, from left) honored Liz and Keith Miller with Family of the Month.

Nestled in the heart of downtown and tucked into the bustling Jennings City Hall, the Zigler Art Museum stands as the community’s shining jewel for cultural immersion for residents of all ages.

Elton town officials, including Alderman Kay Hebert (from left), Alderman Trudy Patterson, Mayor Mike Pierrotti, Alderman Erica Francis, Alderman Kim Thibodeaux and Alderman Tony Guillory, recently partnered with Petco to vaccinate stray cats in the area. Patterson said the event was successful and they were able to service approximately 25 cats.

Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office recently hosted the first-ever Special Olympic Torch Run in the parish during Police Week. JDSO deputies, along with officers from other agencies, Special Olympic athletes and Attorney Daniel Sparks, participated in the run.

In our kitchen, one of my two simple bar stools lost one of its dowels. I should not be surprised because the stools are probably 30 years old and, as I well know, things happen.

The Jeff Davis Council on Aging and District Attorney Lauren Heinen teamed up to provide a day of good food and fellowship for the annual seniors crawfish boil. Approximately 300 people, young and old, enjoyed 1,800 pounds of mud bugs served by the Lake Arthur High School Student Council. Attendees were also treated to door prizes and a raffle.
