Parish 4-H members win big at district livestock competition

The 2025 Southwest District Livestock Show and Rodeo was held January 28 – Feb. 1 at the Burton Complex in Lake Charles. Exhibitors from Jeff Davis, Acadia, Allen, Beauregard, Cameron, Calcasieu and Evangeline parishes exhibited livestock at the event.

Library Board of Control members recently toured the new extension building at the Welsh McBurney Memorial Library which is nearing completion. The new facility offers residents more studying and meeting space while preserving the historic library building. The two buildings will be connected by a large, covered walkway. Board member Kori Myers said the new facility will give the Welsh branch the needed amenities while offering a beautiful new space the community can enjoy. Library Director Michael Staton said the library extension building is set to be complete at the beginning of April.
