Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser recently appointed Sulphur businessman Stuart Moss to serve on the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry. Moss served the previous four years on the board as an appointee of the governor’s office.

Family and friends have spent much of April celebrating Joyce Cormier Dugas Andrus and her 101 years of life. Andrus was born on April 18, 1923, in the small community of Ellis to Henry Cormier, Sr. and Mary Daigle Cormier. She lived in Lacassine for a short time before moving with her family to Mermentau, where she still lives to this day.

The Community Foundation elected four new members of the Board of Directors during its annual meeting on March 11. The meeting was held at SOWELA’s Culinary, Gaming and Hospitality Center.

Members of the Jeff Davis Parish 4-H Junior Leadership Club attended a Service-Learning Workshop in early April at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. The workshop was designed for youth, agents and volunteers to learn about the service-learning cycle and how it can be effectively implemented in order to significantly contribute to the local community and beyond.
